Korean Ground Beef Bowl: The Quick, Flavor-Packed Dinner You Need

A close-up of a Korean beef bowl

If you love the bold flavors of Korean BBQ but don’t want to deal with marinating beef for hours, this recipe is your shortcut to happiness. Sweet, savory, slightly spicy—basically, it checks all the boxes. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients

    • Ground beef – Lean or regular, both work.

    • Soy sauce – The base of that rich, umami flavor.

    • Brown sugar – Adds that signature Korean BBQ sweetness.

    • Garlic & ginger – Fresh is best, but powdered works in a pinch.

    • Sesame oil – A little goes a long way for that nutty depth.

    • Red pepper flakes – Adjust to your spice tolerance.

    • Green onions – For freshness and a pop of color.

    • Cooked rice – White, brown, or even cauliflower rice if you’re feeling virtuous.

    • Sesame seeds – Optional, but they make it look fancy.

Instructions

1. Cook the Beef

In a large pan over medium heat, brown the meat while breaking it into pieces with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and slightly crispy (about 7-8 minutes). Drain excess grease if needed.

2. Make It Flavorful

Add garlic, ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes to the beef. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

3. Serve It Up

Scoop that flavorful beef over a bowl of steaming hot rice. Top with green onions and sesame seeds. Boom—dinner is served.
