Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough: A Healthy, Creamy Twist on a Classic Treat

cottage cheese cookie dough with chocolate chips in a small white bowl, with a spoon resting inside.

Cottage cheese is one of those foods that’s either a favorite or a “nope” for people. But even if you’ve turned up your nose at it before, I swear, this recipe can change your mind

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (full-fat for richness, or low-fat if you’re watching calories)
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (or almond butter, if you’re feeling fancy)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (because it’s not cookie dough without vanilla)
  • 1/3 cup oat flour (or almond flour for a gluten-free option)
  • A pinch of salt (don’t skip this—it balances the sweetness!)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (the star of the show!)

Instructions

  1. Blend the Base: Toss your cottage cheese into a blender and blend until it’s smooth and creamy. No lumps allowed!
  2. Add Sweetness: Add peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract to the blender. Blend again until combined.
  3. Incorporate the Dry Ingredients: Add the oat flour and a pinch of salt. Blend once more until it looks like thick cookie dough.
  4. Mix in the Chips: Transfer the dough to a bowl and fold in the chocolate chips. This is where it starts looking (and tasting) like the real deal!
  5. Chill & Serve: Pop it in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes if you want it a bit firmer. Otherwise, clutch a spoon and revel in it proper away!

Notes

  1. Blend It Well: Cottage cheese can be lumpy, so make sure you blend it until it’s silky smooth. A high-speed blender works best.
  2. Taste as You Go: Everyone’s sweetness preference is different, so start with less honey and add more if needed.
  3. Use Mini Chocolate Chips: They distribute better throughout the dough, giving you chocolate in every bite.
  4. Chill Before Serving: A quick chill in the fridge firms up the texture, making it even closer to traditional cookie dough.
